Itinerary

  • Itinerary Overiew

Rise with the birds and greet the outback sunrise as you are picked up from your accommodation around 6am.
As the warm golden rays highlight the red tones of the landscape, you’ll head East through open savanna woodlands on your way to the mighty Adelaide River Floodplain.
Stop over at Fogg Dam where the diverse habitats of monsoonal forest, wetland and floodplain combine to provide the perfect place to observe the Top Ends unique wildlife.

Here also begins your bushcraft journey of discovery by learning some of the bush foods and medicine plants of the Top End amidst nature at its finest.

Pause for a simple home prepared snack for breakfast.

From here it is a short distance to Corroboree Billabong where we enjoy nature as it was meant to be seen on a relaxed 1.5 hour wildlife cruise. Snakes, crocodiles and more are regular features on this journey so come prepared.

Having answered the call of the wild we then regroup for a fresh outback lunch at our seasonal location (Purple Mango Café or Humpty Doo Hotel). After lunch we make out way back to Darwin to arrive around 3 pm.

  • Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve

Fogg Dam is known for being a hub for migratory water birds, magpie geese, white-bellied sea eagles, blue winged kookaburras and a multitude of other fathered friends. In fact, there have been over 230 bird species recorded in the Fogg Dam conservation reserve.
Our time at Fogg Dam will begin with a relaxed stroll through the monsoonal forest that fringes the dam. Here also is a great opportunity to begin to learn about some of the native bush foods, medicines and natural resources the traditional custodians would utilise.
Peer through the paperbark trees onto the wetland beyond as the water birds go about their business.
Relax and admire the antics of the abundant wildlife that frolic, scamper and glide all around.
Finishing the walk we will then move onto the Dam Wall where we have the chance to have breakfast with the birds before our next adventure on the water.

  • Corroboree Billabong & Mary River Wetlands

The enigmatic Corroboree Billabong is linked to the expansive Mary River Wetlands. A system which boast the highest concentration of salt water crocodiles in the world.
Not only will you get up close to crocodiles in their natural state, but you will also learn of the broader wetland ecosystem. The ebb and flow lifecycle on the water that is dominated by monsoonal floods and drought like winters.
At the completion of the cruise we then sit down for a delicious lunch at our seasonal location (Purple Mango Café or Humpty Doo Hotel) before making our way back to Darwin.
    Back in Darwin around 3pm.
