Legend

Top End Wildlife Experience

Begin your private wildlife experience with convenient pickup from your Darwin accommodation around 6am. From there we trek directly to Finniss River Station where the fun begins.

  • Finniss River Station

Finniss River Station is found around 90 minutes south west of Darwin.  One of the oldest cattle stations in the region, it now features a luxury lodge and activities designed for the discerning traveller. It encompases 50,000 acres of productive pastoral land as well as untamed Top End ecosystems. Stretching from the coast the property comes 25 km inland and includes within it's boundaries coastal beaches, mangrove systems, woodlands, rivers, wetlands, estuaries and much more. Together these features present the perfect opportunity to explore the magnificent wildlife of the Top End.
This is the ultimate Top End Taste Safari.

  • On Arrival

Meet the team and sit down for a gourmet breakfast snack and discussion about the day ahead. Once seated it will be time to get out and about. Your guide will first take you through the safety briefing before getting into the buggy and your adventure. It's important remember that we may come face to face with crocodiles, buffaloes, snakes and all things wild so it pays to be prepared.

  • Buggy Tour

The next 2 hours you will wind your way through the station landscapes with plenty of time to sit and watch the wildlife as it goes about it's business. Throughout you will learn about the stations history and also the natural history that you pass through. For those keen to learn about bush foods and uses of some of the plants then this is the perfect opportunity to let that come out.

  • Airboat Tour of Wetlands & Floodplains

On completion of your buggy tour you can then enjoy a spot of lunch before jumping on the adrenaline boat for a 30 minute air boat ride across the floodplains of the station.  Your guide will take you out and beyond to the wild places only reachable by such a craft and get you up close to some of the more charismatic members of the food chain.

  • Return To Darwin

Before making our way back to Darwin be sure to cool down in the luxurious infinity pool and grab a cold beverage from the bar to help ease the ‘stress’. Arrive back in Darwin around 3pm.
